Release of the Guideline for the prophylactic use of Rh D immunoglobulin in pregnancy care

The National Blood Authority (NBA) is pleased to announce that the Guideline for the prophylactic use of Rh D immunoglobulin in pregnancy care (the Guideline) is now available. The Guideline supersedes the 2003 Guidelines on the prophylactic use of Rh D immunoglobulin (anti-D) in obstetrics.

The intent of the Guideline is to provide updated clinical guidance on the prophylactic use of Rh D immunoglobulin in pregnancy care and is targeted at health care professionals involved in the management of pregnant Rh D negative women.

Electronic copies of the Guideline can be downloaded from the NBA website at www.blood.gov.au/anti-d-0. A summary of the clinical guidance, adaptable care pathways and a technical report describing the evidence review process are also available on the website.
