About the Program

ANZSBT is excited to announce a new Mentorship program available to all members.

We are seeking members from the ANZSBT community.

  • Who are interested in being part of a pool of mentors who will support ANZSBT members at different stages of their careers.

and / or

  • Who are looking for assistance and support to advance their knowledge, network, and career as a mentee.

Who is Eligible?

The ANZSBT mentorship program is open to Clinical, Scientific and Transfusion Practitioners who are current members of the society. While we aim to match mentees with mentors of their profession, matches may occur outside of profession group based on priorities / goals.

The ANZSBT mentorship programs will run for 6 months with the expectation that mentors and mentees will nurture and develop their own relationship over that period. The mentorship relationship can continue past this if agreed by both parties.

Mentor Definition

A mentor is an ANZSBT member who is able to provide support and guidance to members of the blood transfusion community.  They are a person who provides the appropriate support and guidance to a more junior member of their community to enable and enhance their professional development.

  • Be willing to share knowledge, experience and learn new things.
  • Enjoy championing others and giving back to the transfusion community.
  • Be inspired and be ready to inspire.
  • Have good feedback and listening skills.
  • Be a good teacher / advisor.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Be open minded and respectful.

Mentee Definition

A mentee is an ANZSBT member who receives guidance and support from their ANZSBT Mentor.
A mentee will have the following attributes:
• Be open to receiving impartial advice and see an alternative perspective.
• Share own experiences.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Be open minded and respectful.
• Be open to alternative suggestions.

What you will gain as a mentee:

• Experience one to one support.
• impartial advice and alternative perspective.
• Have a sounding board for ideas and projects.
• Personal and professional growth.
• Develop new skills and work on overcoming challenges.

How do I apply?

All Mentors and Mentees must be current members of ANZSBT.

All ANZSBT members are eligible to nominate as a mentor / mentee. As this is a member’s benefit, there is no cost.
